Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the community for details.
A high-ranking representative commented the attack rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
