19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player secured his initial championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after spring of 2023.

The win also indicates he has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six finals, including in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on court had caused some to question if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an improved serve.

The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour title, took control to force a third set.

Moutet saved four early-game opportunities in a close third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned victory with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
