Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of characters who will split off from the main group to begin their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Questers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
